Hi Asena,
The rush decision of yours is of course a disadvantage for you. But we could do our best to minimize that. I'll get to the point directly as we are running out of time. Would you consider an itinerary with driver from a reliable service provider? Need you fast response to act.
Cheers!!

Hi, I would but I am assuming you are a service provider, I need some first hand opinion on whether its wise to be alone with the driver (99% male) intercities? please let me know if you can assure safety issues and also about the price range?
Only you can judge what's safe or not.
I've hired drivers in many countries, including Sri Lanka. One way is to ask friends and fellow travelers for recommendations. Or, hire cars and drivers through hotels, particularly establishments known for service. They are not likely to tarnish their reputation by recommending unreliable providers.
Rates can vary, depending on the vehicle and the itinerary. Ask what prevailing rates are. I hire often, so I have a general idea.
If the package includes accommodations, be sure to inquire what's available; and what the alternatives are. While Sri Lanka has many fine hotels, some may not be to your liking, particularly if there is a major deficiency, such as lack of water, on arrival. That happened to me once in Sri Lanka. While I can live without electricity, not having water available is unacceptable!
