Obviously this is completely inaccurate, and will depend massively on your personal travel habits, how frugally you can and want to travel, or how many activities you want to do and how wild you want to party. One could name a figure anywhere in the $5,000 to $20,000 range without being 'wrong'. But maybe it'll help as a rough guide. (Also, within each continent there are of course cheaper and more expensive places. All of this is just taking a rough estimate based on a bit of personal experience, and my impressions of what an average backpacker without too much experience would roughly spend.
Europe.... Monte Carlo, to have a great day = $250.
