Bangkok to Siem Reap June 2010

Hey guys, I hope everyone is great. I just arrived in Bangkok and I'm glad I came. I am living at Khao San Road and it is insanely surreal haha. It's like a bohemian backpacker madness (in a good way lol)

Not heading that way but make sure you take a cushion. Its a bumpy ride!

Enjoy your trip, not my way dude...

I successfully traveled overland from Bangkok to Siem Reap and no cushion was needed. It was one of the easiest journeys I ever undertook. I don't know why backpackers on the internet always scare people away from this route. I got my cambodia visa before I traveled to SE Asia in order to prevent any hassle at the border. The bus to rongklua market was easy and reliable. I avoided all the scam tuks tuks and immigration people and walked right into the border, got cleared, ignored more scams, took the free government and got a taxi siem reap. So much cheaper than flying and it's not that long either. The bus ride to rongklua (sp) market took about 4 hours and it took the taxi less than two hours to get to siem reap. People interested in this route should not be scared. It is very easy if you ignore the scams.

best regards,
bakpakk
