first time traveling alone Australia 1 year.Need some advise

Hello,

A. Wondering the time of year I'm deciding to go where would it be best for me to land to take best advantage of the weather?

If you're going for a year, anytime is a good time to be arriving. Just avoid the north between December and March.

B. I plan on using First Visa to get my working travelers visa bank account ext... Good idea or bad?

Bad. You're throwing away money. Just get a visa yourself on the official department of immigration website, and set up things like bank account and tax number yourself when you're there. It's all supremely easy, and if for any reason you do need any handholding when there, there'll be plenty of local help (starting at your hostel).

C. What would be a safe amount of Money to take with me for arrival and to support me in till i find a job? Be realistic i can buy food and cook at hostels and be pretty cheap. Yet I'm an athletic guy and happen to eat a lot.

A "safe" amount is as much as you can gather. Count on needing at least AUD $60/day. The official amount of money you need for a WHV is AUD $5000, which at that rate won't quite last you 3 months. Keep an eye on actual expenses when there to see how much you're actually using. People tend to overspend on activities early on, and blow through their money far too swiftly.

D. I'm kind of really nerves will i meet some people down there I'm a very social guy i can get a long with anyone, i have no set plans as of yet either at all non.

Just hang out in your hostel's lounge; you'll be talking to people within half an hour.

E. I have a lot of trade skills ( construction work ) been doing it for 5 years will any of that come in hand down there at all for work?

Yes, construction workers are very much in demand in Australia.

P.S any other advise for me would be amazing I'm a real rookie traveler but I'm so excited and I'm not waiting on any friends to be able to go I have to do this now it just feels right I'm sure a lot if not all of you understand.

Don't plan too much. It's a good idea to have a rough itinerary in your head of where all you'll like to go and what you'd like to see - something to fall back on when you want to be moving but don't want to research - but other than that, expect all your plans to change regularly, and just go with the flow.

Hey, Im 20 and heading out alone too!

Ive booked my flights and head out to Sydney on May 16th, getting there the 17th! I know its going to be a bit chilly in Sydney then, but i thought its a popular place so hoping to meet a few people and head up the east coast, possibly Cairns and then work my way back down the east coast visiting Whitsunday islands etc.. I really want to be back in Sydney for christmas time/newyear..

Planning on working whilst moving, staying in a place a couple months max at a time? Really want to take a trip to Ayers Rock too.

Im saving at the moment because for my year visa i need $5000 in my account to prove that i can support myself. But yeah, hopefully people are easy going and wanting an extra travel friend because i will be very depressed if im a total loner!

I know i have this set in my mind, but just hoping to go with the flow and see where i end up and it all works out okay!

right first you dont need 5000 i no lots of people who go wid only 2-3000 but the more you take the better ov.
i arrive in sydney start of feb tryed looking at it as it gives me a month or 2 in the hot sun before i run out of money and need to start working which means the weather is a bit cooler but plan to head up the east coast for at that time anyway.

anyway im 22. like you, been in the construction industry 5 years as a bricky. done other jobs as wel bar work and stuff.

i found its better to travel solo. there are always plenty of people and groups to join in with and unlike if u had sum1 with you all the time if u want to go sum where or change towns or groups u can no problem,

anyways mate let me no when ya thinking about going over?

Hey man,

So yea that's what i figured more i bring less i have to work, plus I really wanna do the 3 months of agriculture work for my second year WHV but we will see how it all turns out. I take off from Canada Feb1 land Sydney Feb3.... My plan is to land in the Blue parrot hostel for a little and explore Sydney. then move my way up to cairns but stopping on the way Of course. But i truly don't have a set plan at all. I have tons of ideas though and just going to wing it best i can, you have any dates on your arrival in Sydney?

Hope to hear from you.

hey

ha ha yer mate same sort of date and same plans. i want to do my second year too but i hurd you can do brickyin and apply for your second visa.
how long you planning to stay in sydney for, i was thinking maybe 2 weeks to a month, depends if i can drag my self away from bondi beach.
i got it set that there are a few things i want to defo see like uluru. blue mountains, gbr, ext, but other then that im easy
i did look at blue parrot but to get the most out of my money i planned on only spending $10 a night at most. looking on kings cross for acommodation my mate recommended it.

anyways let me no if u fancy meeting up

Hey,

I would like to meet up that would be cool. $10 a night that's epic ill definitely look into that, peek my interest i never knew there where places that cheap. Yea there are a a lot of things i wanna do in Sydney not sure how many ill end up doing, but what the locales tell me is the best ill be doing for sure. Been reading Lonely Planet Australia and it has been pretty good as far as info goes. This trip was out of the blue idea for me and i plan to experince a lot and make the most out of every minute.
Yea the beaches are what I'm very excited for never lived near an Oceania I'm land locked back home not really many lakes around me either.

Would like to know more about this places that's $10/night so please share.!

I would recommend looking into Qanstruct for the construction bit.
