Hey every one, I am going off travelling next year and I was wondering if there was any way I could find out who would be in my hostel before I get there? I would like to know someone before I arrive in each location, maybe someone else travelling alone so I have someone to plan with in different places.
If you book hostels here on travellerspoint, during the booking process you have the option to "Allow other Travellerspoint members to see you are staying here. A great way to meet other travellers!"
I don't know any other booking website which has a similar option, and I don't think it's used widely enough here on travellerspoint that you can know someone everywhere, but it should certainly help. I think accommodation pages will also say something like "x other travellerspoint members stay here during the time period you're looking at" or similar, but I can't find an example offhand.
Not only is your request unreasonable, it's a little creepy.
The vast majority of travellers don't have every single movement of their trip nailed down. They don't have all their accommodation confirmed in advance and they certainly don't announce on the Internet where they're sleeping every single night.
So not only is your request illogical, it's a little spooky that you want to know stranger's plans and names before you even show up. That makes no sense whatsoever and if you're that nervous about travelling on your own then you should investigate joining structured tour group(s) before venturing off on your own.
