How about of them over in the Krabi/Phuket area? Sea Kayaking off , climbing as well. Then take the bus over to Surat Thani, 140 baht, 3-4 hours. Good luck with your planning.

I just came from Ko Phangan and was there for 2 weeks, its super quiet right now. But I have to say it gets busy around Full Moon Parties, I went to the Nov one and Please be very Carefull..I think they put stuff in the buckets, so make sure your with people you trust.The day after the full Moon Party I slept the entire day, very weird...It was fun but stay away from the Buckets...
I just got to Koh Tao and I'm loving it...
enjoy your time in Koh Phangan...Oh, stay at coco gardens resort, they are SO nice and they have a fun bar on the beach..The owners are super cool...it"s in Ban Tai, do not stay in Haad Rin...Its a 100 Baht in a taxi to get to full moon party (20mins)
