Hey people!
A dozen years ago I flew from Sydney to Perth. It took six hours. Australia is a huge place and much of the towns and such are around the edge, with not a lot in the center.
Australia is fairly expensive and many, many people go there each year expecting to find work on farms. There are few jobs, hard work and minimum wages so don't count on it.
The best place to start is on the east coast. You might want to start from Cairns in NE Australia and work your way down the coast.
Australia is quite safe provided you use a bit of common sense. Be careful of your money, of going out at night in big towns, of trusting anyone who seems too friendly (they may just be friendly but maybe not) and so on.
I would advise buying a copy of the Lonely Planet guide to Australia, and maybe a good map.
Hi I am 21 and am also planning on going to Australia in Feb alone and I am pretty nervous and excited. Where are your planning on travelling to? I haven't booked my flights yet so I am just trying to sort my trip out x
I was thinking of heading to the east coast.. Starting from cairns maybe? Or probably sydney..i'm actually fine with anything so long as I can cover the east coast and nt miss out much of the events they have there like the music festivals or something like that and I havent book my air ticket yet too! hi im 25 im going in july i feel a bit old well works giving me a year out so I thought y not im starting in darwin it be nice and warm in july then i cant wait saving like mad,im going to work the fruit farms
Australia is safe enough.
I travelled alone when I was 21 and worked on fruit farms, gardening etc.
Why not try some bar work.
I would start East coast and work my way up, you keep the warm weather then. Save Darwin til the end of your trip as it will be winter in July but still hot,.

hi I'm 22, planning on going in march for a year. Going to start in Melbourne and work my way up the east coast, hopefully finding work as I go along (fingers crossed) I haven't brought my ticket yet, but do have the visa. Quite nervous about doing it alone but excited about the prospect of doing it x
