I will spend the New Years Eve in Manuel Antonio which I can recommend and they got a great hostel that is called Backpackers Manuel Antonio. I've stayed there and it was nice with good people and a pool with view to the ocean(the view isn't the most amazing one but still..)
or I would recommend Montezuma which is a nice small town just at the coast and they got Luz en el cielo if you are comfortable with dorms, or you can stay at Las Palmeras. I know another place that I stayed at which was budget and pretty ok but I can't find them on the web but you should make reservation since it will be fulled. Google Montezuma hostel/hotel to find more.
Puerto Viejo is another place but that is on the Caribbean side, the above is at the Pacific coast. Puerto Viejo is very south, close to the Panama border but I prefer the 2 above! If you come to Manuel Antonio, I'll see you there!
I will also be in Costa Rica as of 12/30/11, and I am looking for a NYE location. What did you guys decide on?
Hi! We decided to stay in Playas del Coco Dec 30 - Jan 2 then we're heading to Arenal til Jan 5 then to Manuel Antonio (staying at Vista Serena Hostel) til the 8th. Moving on to Osa from there then the Caribbean!
I hear that Montezuma and Puerto Viejo are also cool places to go for NYE.
Why did you pick that location? I haven't chosen a place yet. I may head there if it's a fun place.
