we are going to Thailand in Feb 2012, staying in Hua Hin for 14 days then onto Kanchanaburi for a couple of days, but where to go next, without too much travelling. We have been to Bangkok and do not want to go back there any suggestions please, we will have a further 10 days, have been to Pattaya and Phuket before they became so loud!!!! where else is worth a visit..Can you help...thanks a lot Stokesy
Chiang Mai. Bus or train is not that expensive.
Korat/ Phimai. Not that far from Bangkok using a cheap bus ride from Morchit.
I agree with karazyal, Chiang Mai would be my first suggestion, overnight express train is comfortable. Last year, as it was my third time, I took a day train just north of Bangkok and stayed a couple of days at Ayutthaya (good if you like to see many wats). Then I boarded the daily overnight train from there through to Chiang Mai.
My second suggestion would be Koh Samui (return flight from Bangkok) but as your staying at Hua Hin for 2 weeks I think the change of scenery in Chiang Mai would be the way to go.
