Mexico From 1st March 2012 to 14th

Hey

Cancun is a bit of a tourist trap, but nice beaches. If you fancy something different, Chichen Itza is a bus ride away from the local bus station. If you do, check the time of return buses as otherwise you may have to wait awhile if you just miss one. CI is free on Sundays, as are museums and historic sites throughout Mexico.

Okay, since nobody is giving you the party info, here you go--

Senor Frogs is the most happening place and things get wild and crazy here--especially during spring break and when the universities first let out in the late May/early June time frame, but there are also major nightclubs up near the north and south end of the tourist areas (think near the Club Med on the south end and near the Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach on the north end). There is also major nightlife in Playa del Carmen just one block in from the beach (all the way from north to south on this street that parallels the beach).

If you are looking for the "seedier" side of life, there is a high-end strip club between the tourist section (northern section) and the downtown part of Cancun. For shopping, there is one major way halfway up the peninsula and then just after the road turns west heading towards town--and, of course, there is shopping in the downtown area also.

The hotels themselves have some nightlife, but it depends on where you stay and what they cater to--think great family or couple entertainment at more mainstream places like the Marriott and Riu--and a little more "meetup central" at places that are promoting singles coming to mingle (like Club Med or some of the Playa del Carmen properties).

There are also great activities all day long--such as taking waverunners out to swim near coral reefs, golfing, scuba diving, parasailing, kayaking, or deep-sea fishing. Visiting turtle sanctuaries or going to a water park is also possible as these are both located close-by. And--as pointed out by a previous poster--the Chichen Itza pyramids (named one of the top 7 sites in the world to visit) is a bus ride away;--and there are other pyramids south near Tulum and west of Chichen Itza near Merida. You can also travel south to places to swim with dolphins in swimming pools, or swim in underground rivers/pools called xenotes. All in all, a great place to get away and enjoy your time.

Awesome! thanks for the help really appriciated!
