I strongly disadvice you to take any guided tour to the Great Wall from the tour operators that operate in the Forbiden City.
There are lots of perfectly legitimate guides in the Forbidden City. Just because you got scammed by some lame hustler named "Bill" don't try to paint everyone with the same brush.
Live and learn.

I agree with Terry - I am heading to Beijing in Mid January and plan to go on a tour of the Great Wall and Ming Tombs - just because one tour operator does not provide the service that you expected to use words like "So under any condition, do not take anyone offering you a tour to the Great Wall in the Forbidden City or around" is demeaning to all other tour operators that run a legitimate service.
Scams (unfortunately) are a part of many travelling stories - but as Terry has said Live and Learn - there are many forum posts and travel guides recommending these same services, it is just unfortunate that yours was not one of these.
Hindsight is always a little too late.
