Vilnius to Gdansk

Hi,
I'm travelling from Vilnius to Gdansk over summer and was wondering what is the best and cheapest way to get there?

Oh its really not very far at all. Bus and train are your best options. A direct flight would all be over in about an hour and you'd miss all the culture and scenery.
I'd opt for a bit of both....
Train from Vilnius to Marajampole - via - Kaunas. Then take a bus to the Lithuania/Poland border.
Get on to the E67 (A5) at Kalvarijan down to the border (only about 1/2 an hour or so), then cross the border on foot and pick up a bus from Podwojponie (PL) to Suwalki. From Suwalki, board a train to Gdansk Oliwa. You can get either the early train that involves just one change - or there are others including overnighters, which involve about 4 changes. It's good fun, although a bit tiring to take the cheaper overnight services.

They have an excellent website with full instant English translation.

Im in the same situation, Viln - Olsytn, but its the same line. I think there's a bus leaving Vilnius at 11PM arriving in Olsytn around 5am, continuing on to Gdanks.

I spent 3 days in Gdansk and loved the area. If you go, make sure that you hit the 'tri-cities' of Gdansk, Gdyina, and Sopot. They each have their own character. Great hostel in Gdansk was the Happy Seven....great staff, clean, good breakfast and free internet!
