A Few Questions On What I Should Take…

Any help on any of these questions would be much appreciated, even if you only have an answer for one, please still reply. Thanks.

You haven't mentioned where you are going.....

"I only plan on doing a few occasions of trekking and will only be in Asia"

In the second paragraph...

The most important thing to do is travel as light as you possibly can. Most things you can pick up whilst out in Asia if you do iscover you need them but i have made the mistake so many times of overpacking and taking everything and then wishing i hadnt when dragging my bag around!

Shoes

If you plan on doing any trekking take some trekking boots. But only if you're really going to be trekking, if you are going to be going on walks or light treks you ight want to take trainers instead as treking boots are heavy and take up a lot of space, and are not really worth it if you only wear them once/not at all. I would say bring a pair of flip flops as most people bum around in these as your feet get swollen in the heat and they are good to let the air in. However, you can pick these up in Asia for really cheap too.

Trousers

Jeans are not a good thing to take to Asia as they are heavy, the weather is so hot that you will probably not want to wear them and they take up so much room. Plus they are a nightmare to dry in the humidity!! I would suggest cotton/linen trousers and maybe a pair or combat trousers or something. Plus bring shorts obviously.....

Insect repellent

I have found that its best to get the stong deet containing sprays. In good camping shops you can find some at about 70% deet, these tend to be good, the only thing is it stinks and isnt really good for all day use. I'd suggest investing at a good mosquito net and using that at nighttimes. Make sure it comes with a pack to hang it properly onto walls.

As far as clippers are concerned, i would not bother as barbers are everywhere in Asia and so cheap and I really dont think its worth it at ALL!

Another point i just thought of, bring a bathplug! Haha, In backpacker accomodation these are few and far between!

Hope this helps!

My day pack will also be used when first going to the airport, carrying all the stuff I need on the plane and other stuff that I don’t want broken when my checked in luggage is thrown around.
So obviously when I get off the plane and collect my luggage I will have to carry this day pack and my backpack. So which day pack is the best to get around this?

Well, have you considered going really light and travelling with nothing but a daypack? A large and very comfortable one, but still a daypack. There are some good daypacks or light hiking packs out there that are around 30 liters, those will serve you well.
