Solo stay in Marrakech- advice??

Hello! I'm planning a possible stay in Marrakech in Aug or July for a few weeks, really want to explore it but although excited, am a bit daunted at the prospect of travelling alone- did some backpacking last year with a mate in Sardinia and got a real taste for it! However for my stay in Marrakech, I'm incredibly lucky in one way in that I can rent a property off my landlord from Birmingham for very little (he owns a house out there, amazing!), but it means I won't meet people through stays in hostels... SO just wondered if anyone knows anywhere good to meet like-minded travellers/can give me any advice about Marrakech solo travel to send me on my way/ is planning a trip out there? Cheers! Emily x

I think three weeks would be a long time in Marrakesh. I stayed there a week and thought it was plenty. You're right about hostels - I met plenty of people from all over. The obvious question is, can you not take people with you? As for things to do - I cleared off on a bus for a few days along the coast, but desert tours are popular with most people - and probably more sociable. Loved the place and hope to go back.

btw - welcome to the forum!

You will love Marrakesh it is such a lovely place. It is quite a hippy backpacker hangout so there are loads of places to meet people. Most obvious places are restaurants and try going for lunch at one of the guesthouses or something. Buy a lonely planet and find out where the top places to see.go are and you are bound to meet loads of people there.

Enjoy your trip!
