We are travelling to Goa mid june just for a week. we want to find a lively backpacker scene with bars and nightlife.
We have been advised to go to anjuna or palolem? We know it is the monsoon season however we have to stay elsewhere in india until this time. Any suggestions? any accomodation ideas?

Me and my friend stayed in Anjuna over New years eve this year. Was really lively but thats because NYE is the busiest time, so not sure what it will be like in June. But if you're looking for lots of backpackers and a good vibe with crazy dance music, this place is great. Its also easy to access the other beaches from here which are worth checking out. we stayed in the silver moon guest house which was lovely, about a 15 min walk from the beach but near to lots of restaurants.
Palolem is much more chilled out than Anjuna, so if you're looking for a chill out I would go here instead. both are completely different, but you'll enjoy both. Don't go to Anjuna if you don't like Trance music though!!

I was in Goa in December and in Anjuna didnt see anything of the dreaded trance scene, it was my favorite place in Goa for sure. Palolem to me didnt have the same vibe, but the swimming was nicer there and riding into the country was more of an adventure.
I'd say if you can handle a scooter, do both! Goa is a great place to explore. I think it took about 5 hours to ride from Anjuna to Palolem.
Anjuna is a lot more of a backpacker place than Palolem. Palolem is heading more to the midrange side of things and is therefore more expensive. However it is so beautiful and one of my favourite places in Goa. I do agree that you should maybe rent out a scooter and visit both places.
