hey-
I'd also like some info on Krakow specifically...I'll be heading there in late March and would like to see as much as I can within a few days (I'm on a tight schedule/tight budget).
From what I hear, Poland in general is one of the safest countries....any suggestions on where to say? budget hotels? etc...
Thanks!
... ...from where you have been I can see you Do like big cities, but what are u interested in to see, who to meet, what to explore?
Poland is really quiete safe, yes! tell me what u like and I'll tell u where to go!
best wishes, Gorfi
Well... I do like big cities, but not only
I sure would like to visit Krakow and also Auschwitz, but besides that I'm not sure what interesting things are there to see in the south
I'm open to anything, from big cities to the quietness of the mountains
Hallo hallo
I'm from northen Poland and what can I say....
In the south very interesting is Krakov with Oswiecim (i.e. Auschwitz) and with worth seeing salt mine in Wieliczka , if U are catholic, there is Czestochowa with beautilful Cathedal, there are also mountains on the south with famous place (i hope :-) ) Zakopane.
There is great number of beautiful small cities and countryside.
Information about cheap accomodation in Krakov : hotelik.naszemiasto.pl there is english and french translation on this site.
prices : from 12 to 48 euro (breakfast & parking included)
I don't realy know this hotel only from web so can't say anythig about it. Only this what is at pictures on this site. I hope you enjoy this info. Anything else.... write to me.
How many days are you going to spend in Poland? In the southern part Kraków is a must, also Auschwitz, salt mines in Wieliczka. The nature is also beautiful in the south, you could visit Tatra mountains (Zakopane is the biggest and the most tourist-oriented city in this region) which are the highest mountains in Poland. Close to Zakopane is picturesqe Castle in Niedzica.
However in my opinion north is also worth visiting, especially Gdańsk located at the seaside. And definitely I wouldn't cross out Warsaw, there is beautiful Old Town in the city, Royal Łazienki Garden, Wilanow Palace, historic Jewish sites as well as plenty of interesting museums, many of them opened in the last few years.
LOL, an 11 year old thread pops up
Poland is pretty safe, so don't worry.
Warsaw is ugly, but you have good train connections from this city. Krakow is "must see" - the city and areas, like salt mines Bochnia and Wieliczka, plus Auschwitz-Birkenau. You should think of Zakopane - great touristy place in the Tatra Mountains.
