My boyfriend and I are planning to leave around oct.20th for a month vacation. But we are having difficulties choosing our destination, we want to find nice spot on beach with clear turquoise water reefs to snorkel/dive, some trekking, ruins. A relaxating time. The Carribean Coast is probably the place to go. But it seems that CR Puerto Viejo, Panama Boca del Toro, Nicaragua (Corn Islands)is the worst time because of the rainy season, hurricanes possibilities etc... Honduras Roatan bad time for sand flies(MAlaria) Mexico seems expensive, our budget would be 40$ can or 30$us/day. The Pacific side seems nice but the Ocean is suit for surfing more than anything else.
You can visit Central East America like Florida, Alabama, Orlando for the specific purpose of snorkeling. Perdido Pass Jetties and Whiskey Wreck are one of the sites to dive and experience snorkeling at Gulf Shores which is popular in tourists.
Your budget doesn't seem like enough for anywhere in my opinion. Years ago you could go to somewhere like Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos and put up a tent on an empty bit of beach but those days are long gone.
St. John in the US Virgin Islands is a good place for snorkelling but again, I don't see how you could do it on your budget.
Maybe rather than asking about where is a good place to snorkel, it would make more sense to ask where if anywhere you can go on that budget. I would be surprised if anyone can come up with an answer in the Caribbean, Mexico or even Central America.
