Welcome to Finland!
I have used the Vaasa - Umeå ferry several times in the past, but
unfortunately I haven't tried the new ferry company that runs
that line now (RG Line - http://www.rgline.com).
I believe that the Vaasa-Umeå ferry is still a good fast way to get from
Finland to Sweden. I assume that you're travelling from northen
or central Finland to Sweden? Otherwise the Turku-Stockholm -line
seems the shortest route to Hamar?
If you need more info on Finland, I'm happy to help.

Hi!
I do live in Finland, but I havent travelled that way, sorry. But I'm sure all transport systems work flawlessly in Finland and in the rest of the Scandinavia, so don't worry about it just take the ferry! I'd be happy to help you with other question concerning Finland too. Have a nice trip!

Hi,
Allow me to introduce myself ............. Geoff, retired Architect, cyclist, photographer and lover of Scandinavian design. forests, mountains amd lakes.
I too plan to use this ferry from Vaasa to Umea. I had hoped to travel to Sundsvall but it seems that ferry is no longer operating. My trip is 8 months away but I would like to get at least an estimate of the cost of this ferry. So far, no luck. This will not be my first trip to this part of Scandinavia. I travelled through there 40 years ago, as far north as Muonio, and now I want to introduce my wife of 37 years to the wonders of Finland, Sweden and Norway in our Motorhome.
Any information that anyone has to offer on ferries (or anything else you wish to tell me about) in this area will be greatly appreciated. We will also use the Stockholm to Turku one but I am happy with what I know about that one.
Regards
Geoff from Australia
