How to travel around as a woman??

Kimmetje_8 has indicated that this thread is about Thailand

Hi, I believe that Thailand is a safer place for single women travelling than Australia!
I would suggest that if you use the same level of care that you would use in your hometown in similar situations, you will have no problems at all.
Thai men in the most part are courteous and respectful.
As for thailand travel tips, if you're coming to North Thailand, don't miss out on Chiang Dao!!

Hi!

Any thoughts on Italy? Or rather Italian men and how to deal as a lone American traveller?

Hello friends,

Why you all women are so afraid from men ? you talked about men in Australia, Thailand or even Italy or anywhere around the world . Is it a matter of security or the psycology of men as well as women. I think by nature men are more helpful then women as women are generally jealous . Though i apologize in advance to those who are not like that. As it is a fact and not a universal truth. Exceptions are always there but in general i think men are cooprative and helpful. Do you still feel men as a matter or concern while travelling to a new country ?

Although you make some interesting points Aman, I must admit Italian men. for example, do seem quite daunting to women. Hollering out to women seems like a tradition in Italy My best advice to females is to see it as a bit of fun and that's it. I don't think they mean any harm by it.

Kim, I don't think you need to worry when you are travelling to Australia. There are plenty of single women travelling around here and people are fairly civilised believe it or not! Anyway, who am I to talk as a male

Well, you'd need a mini skirt, some lip stick, high heels thats sort of thing. ha ha, comedian of the year.

In thailand the women are more scary than the men! its us that have to worry but seriously, you'll be fine in asia. Just don't take risks, and have a bit of common sense etc.

Hi!
I used to be in Thailand by myself as a woman, nothing happened like scared things we imagined in our mind. And I met a very good Chinese who told me some intesesting things there (many Chinese lived there) on the borning travelway. One remark that there is a long queue for taxi in front of the airport in the Friday afternoon, so avoid that period if you can (I don't know whether it's same for every afternoon). And as I know Thailand people are willing to help if you got question.

I travelled Europe by myself.....it was really fun to be friend with loneliness, but i still have to say---travelling around as a woman isn't very ....rational:D like when i was in France....guys just came up to me and talked to me,which made me extremely annoyed....in Amsterdam, i was almost stolen twice:S
i think u should have a mate to go with
travelling is the best experience a person can ever have, but...what should i say?..... safety is beyong anything
have fun

Hi, do yourself a favour and buy or borrow a copy of LP's Thailand before setting off. They have a whole section on woman travelling alone and also on Gay and Lesbians. You take your western cultures and values to Thailand at your own risk. A woman travelling alone in Asia (and for that matter Italy, Greece, France, Australia, USA, UK, etc) is definitely at a higher risk than travelling with another female or male companion. As in business, the higher the Risk, the higher the "expected" Return. Nothing in Life is for sure so who knows.

Wishing you a wonderful time in Thailand. It's a most beautiful country but it's the people you meet along the way that makes it special.

Lonely Planet makes a lot of errors on the version of China.....a lot of telephone number of hotel are not the hotel they refer to.....which caused many troubles.....
