hi travelers,
I am a newbie from USA and i am planning to visit Egypt this July. As of now i am busy searching for a travel agency online. I already found 2 -snip- and -snip-.. i don't know if they are reliable one . I am a busy person that is why i choose to book online.. Does anyone of you guys tried to book online. Can you suggest some travel agency for me?
The situation in Egypt is "fluid" as they say. Things are generally OK but there are sometimes very violent demonstrations, notably in Cairo.
If you want a nice beach down south, plenty more peaceful places available in other countries.
PS: Don't give your full address in your profile and then tell people when you will be away (and the home empty?)
Egypt is a large country depends where you are wanting to go and there as been trouble over there, decide what your travel plans are and check with your embassy if they are advising travel to that area. It's always best to be safe.
Booking on line is generally safe, I do it all the time.
Check out the company you decide to travel with for reviews from other travelers.
DON'T ever make a bank transfer of money from your account to another when you don't know that person/company once transacted you cannot get your money back.
Whenever possible pay by credit card (in the UK there is insurance cover with cards)check this with your cc provider.
Sometimes the company will say they don't take credit cards just say you'll pay the full amount when you arrive if they are not happy with this go to another company.
Take a money belt and use it for carrying money documents tickets etc.
Don't forget the Visa you will need and medical travel insurance these are very important.
If you need to do online banking DON'T use Internet cafes the line might not be secure. I used 4 and 5* hotels, using their business section.
Not in Egypt but many countries have libraries that allow use of computers for free or a nominal charge and these are OK.
If you have the money you could always do a Nile cruise, you get to see all the sites in a secure environment.
Best of Luck
Jean
I agree. I think its better for you to check and seek for advice first before traveling to the area just to be sure of your safety and be aware of the current situation of the place. As of booking online, it's completely okay. Just make sure to be cautious and do some necessary research about the agency your going for making sure they're legit and that they can accommodate you with your needs. Also, give only the needed information when booking and nothing more..
