There are no flights because Colon is a backwater port and very poor. If I were you, I'd repeat the question on the Panama section of Tripadvisor Forums.

Because of problems with train schedules (see separate tip), I took the bus from Panama City to Colon and return. The service departs hourly from the main (Albrook) bus terminal in Panama City and the main terminal in Colon and takes about two hours. The Greyhound-style buses were older models and could be a bit cleaner, but the service was a big step up from the school buses that provide most of Panama's bus service, and the air conditioning worked. The biggest drawback was the very loud action movies that played continuously on the overhead monitors. The body count must have approached a thousand during each two hour trip. Unless your taste runs to blood and gore, bring ear plugs and something to read.
