Aus/Canada

Hi all!!!
I am 25 year old female and I am really interested in travelling both Canada and Australia and really can't decide which to do was hoping could get some advice off peeps that have been o either or both??!!

They're both gorgeous countries, with a lot of nothing in between the major sights. They're both rather expensive, although Canada I think tends to be even more so due to less backpacker infrastructure. Australia is great year round (in different parts); Canada I'd avoid in winter, unless you specifically go for winter activities. Both offer Working Holiday Visas which allow you to stay for a year (against 3 months in Australia, or 6 months in Canada), but the are very limited in number (you basically have to apply for one during a 2 month window, between when they become available in late December, and when they're gone by late February / early March), and need more paperwork to apply for; the is supremely easy to get.
Australia has New Zealand right next door, which is even better than Australia if you love beautiful nature (plus cheaper, too). Canada has more impressive wildlife (bears!), but Australia's wildlife is easier to bump into (in Hall's Gap, the kangaroos come out to eat the grass in the hostel's backyard each afternoon). Canada's big cities are grimier (very American). Australia's big cities are smaller and more laid back.

For Australia, the rule of thumb is AUD $75/day for dorm room accommodation, buying supermarket food to cook your own meals, and travelling by public transport once a week. The minimum you need on a WHV is AUD $5000 (~GBP 3000), which allows you to live for two months before you need to start earning money. More is obviously better.
For Canada I don't really know what a realistic backpacker budget would be - I travelled rather luxuriously while I was there. Maybe CAD $80/day? Transport is the big cost in both countries, but I fear in Canada you need a car a lot more than in Australia...
