I held a residence permit in Belgium until 31st October, 2012. After getting accepted on a 2 month course in Germany, starting on the 29th October. I applied for the Visa to Germany in Brussels on the 3rd of October. I was told that the Visa will be ready by the 9th November. I went to Germany for the course. Upon contacting the embassy from Germany, I was told that everything is ready and that i need to send someone to collect the papers. When my friend reached there, I was shocked to hear that the application was rejected, Leaving me as an illegal-alien in Germany for the past 6 weeks without even being aware of it. I have a valid visa for the UK till January-end.
Where are you from? Which passport do you hold?
Where is the course? University?
You don't need a Schengen visa, which is for tourism or business in the Schengen area, but you need a student visa for Germany. I suppose the visa was rejected because you applied for a tourist visa ( Schengen visa) when in fact you wanted to study. Studying is not allowed on a tourist visa.
A very good place to get help online is here:

But be sure to give them more information, especially about your passport.
Dear amsel07, thanks for replying as I am very worried here. I am a citizen of India with an Indian passport. I have studied in the UK for 4 years and the whole of last year in Belgium. I am doing a language course in Germany at Leipzig where I was planning to continue with my studies.
I had a residence permit for Belgium which expired on the 31st of October and my application was for a student visa for a short term language course in Germany.

I can only speculate here about the reasons why your visa was denied. Your best way is to ask the consulate for their reasons and then contact the very friendly and helpful people at the forum info4aliens.
Good luck.
Well as you're due to leave on Friday, the pragmatist in me is tempted to say just travel to the UK and keep quiet about it.
Depending how you're travelling - if overland I believe there are no ID checks along the way apart from the UK Border Agency wanting to see that you're allowed in?
If flying, I'm not sure - as the citizen of an EU member state maybe they treat me differently. But I think the passport is not processed on an outbound flight, just used as photo id as a visual check to match the name on the boarding card. Not certain about how Germany do this!
