brazil or india?

I'm planning a trip either to Brazil or india in a month an would really appreciate some views on which on the the pros and cons of both especcially from those who've been to both. Thanks.

Honestly, I think that's a question better answered yourself... those are two extremely different locations with almost nothing historically/culturally in common outside the fact that they're both huge, incredibly diverse countries.

Perhaps you should first ask yourself what experience(s) you're looking for in a destination, then people can help you decide...

Cheers,
Terry

Wow, indeed, that is not an easy comparison, if at all possible.

I have been to both although India just briefly to visit some tiger parks (tiger enthusiast). It is huge and has Himalaya mountains, tropical beaches, hectic cities and lots of cultural highlights. For me the hectic way of life I experienced briefly in a few cities was really too much but if you take your time and are able to cope with such things, it must be a fantastic country, according to may other travellers. Although I do think that has something to do with the easyness of getting there (cheap tickets, cheap stopover on RTW tickets) and the cheap travel over there as well.

As a whole, the cultural highlights in Brazil are probably less, but regarding nature, I loved the place. It does not have the high mountains or extremely beautiful landscapes, but the Amazon and Pantanal are a paradise of tranquility and beautiful animals not to be seen anywhere else. The Iguazu Falls arguably are the most beautiful falls in the world. On top of that I spend some time in the most 'European' part (Rio Grande do Sul, yes in the south) for a wedding and some local family life.

All in all, I would pick Brazil.

Cheers
Michael.

Both the countries are quite different from each other. The have different and diverse culture. India is tropical country with some great beaches and huge mountains. The pristine beauty of Himalayas is just amazing to watch. It has also got some great islands. It has also got great culture and an amazing history with some amazing historical places to visit.
Brazil on the other hand does not have such a great history or beautiful places to visit. Iguazu falls are the best thing about Brazil. It has got some beautiful national parks with different kind of animals that can only be found there.
On the whole if I have to select I would go for India for its beauty and beautiful landscapes.

Both countries have different attractions. Visiting in India I think will be affordable for you. India is known for magnificent history, culture and tradition. It's a country where all religion people live. Himalaya, Shimla, Haridwar, Agra, etc are some eye of attraction. The choice is yours.

Happy Journey

I've not traveled to Brazil but I can give you some advice on Indian.
I traveled independantly in India with my husband and a friend for 6 weeks in 2008.

Indian looks you right in the eye and says this is what you get take it or leave it.

After the culture shock which most westerners feel beyond this is an amazing country of history culture religion and so much to see it's a place I would recommend anyone.

Perhaps some folk are better on the organised tours as you get to see all the palaces forts gardens mountains without the rest of the crap.

We traveled mainly on the train system for 6 weeks, what an eye opener. I would suggest if you travel this route to get air conditioned carriages we traveled in both and the ac is definitely the way to go.

People love to practice their English they are so hard working and a few of our pence means a great deal to them.

There is organized begging so if you want to give to a child give them food I did because generally the adults take the money off the children and they are left with nothing.

Do your research and decide where you want to go and the things that interest you and off you go.

If you use the trains buy the tickets in advance from the train stations, the travel agents are a rip off, we bought one ticket from an agent to save time, had to cancel it and found they had charged us ten times what the ticket price was.

Good luck on your choice.

Jean

Oh buy the train tickets from the main stations, if you use the travel agents they will char

There is no comparison between these two countries. Both are good, both have different attractions, India is very beautiful country. In India you will enjoy many beautiful climates, weathers in India. India is very cheap, you can do anything with few rupees. There are many Historical places in India, where you will enjoy definitely. There are many attractive sceneries like big metropolitan cities, quite villages, jungles, beaches, mountains etc. Food is also very delicious in India.

What is the theme of your travel....? If culture then India, If nature then Brazil. If economic then India if Expensive then Brazil. So first decide what you would like to do...!!
