Hey to all
You don't state what country you are visiting. Both Cambodia & Laos accept USD for their visa fees. VN has a visa on arrival system only for those flying into VN. $25 stamp fee at Immigration. You will need an approval letter from a VN travel agent before arriving. talks about my experience flying into SGN. Thailand, Malaysia & Singapore do not charge most western countries for their visa.
As Mike states, VOA is a little different for each country, but USD is the normal currency of choice, and it's a good idea to have it with you when you arrive. I just completed my 5th trip to SE Asia, and I use VOA exclusively (with no problems).
When you ask any visa questions, you should state where you intend to travel, as well as the passport you hold.
Different countries different rules. For many tourists from Western countries like US, UK, Australia and most of Europe several Asian countries allow you to enter free for a set period of time. You just line up with other tourists and get your passport stamped with date and how many days you get.
Need more time then you can obtain a tourist visa ahead of time.
So, what country passport will you be entering with and what country are you visiting?

thanks for the quick replies.
Well, I posted it in the Asia group because I'm wondering about more or less all the asia counties.
I'm going to india, where I already have a visa. Then from there I'm going to Nepal, there I need a VoA.
Afterwards I want to continue travelling around Asia and visit as many countries as possible. Where I need always a VoA...
I'm a bit annoyed to need to have US- Dollars with me. I'm from Switzerland and have swiss francs and of course euros, for india the indian rupees. And just for the case of the case that I have to pay the visa with US dollars, I have to take us dollars with me...?!
I would prefer to pay with the local money...
But if it's like that, than there's no choice...
Euros are almost as widely accepted as US dollars, now. But you should check for each country whether they accept Euros or not, for VOA.
