Hi, we are planing our next trip and we can't decide which city to choose.
On the top of our list are: Barcelona, Florence, Berlin and Amsterdam. We would like to travel on buget and are wondering which of these cities is the cheapest, but still has a lot to offer(we love art and history museums).
It would help us a lot if you share some of your experiences.
Thanks
Berlin is my favourite city in Europe, so I'd say don't miss it - there's so much to see and do there. It has lots of history and some interesting museums. From the cities you mentioned, Florence would be my next choice, followed by Barcelona then Amsterdam. It's a while since I've been to Barcelona but I've been to the other 3 quite recently and there isn't much to choose between them in terms of cost. If you are coming from the UK and spending sterling they will all seem expensive because of the unfavourable exchange rate at the moment.
Since you say you love to visit art and history museums, I would recommend Florence first, then a tie between Barcelona and Berlin (more art in Barcelona, more history in Berlin). Agree with bex76 that the prices will run almost the same everywhere. Probably Barcelona would be the cheapest at this time, but only ever so slightly.
Thanks for informations about those places.
Berlin is probably the cheapest - the city motto's is 'poor but sexy'. Otherwise you can get the city pass which allows to go into some great museums on Museum Isle for a few days (ticket is quite cheap too)
Id recommend Florence for sure! it was the heart of the renaissance so id definitely go there for at least 2 days. you can see Michelangelo's David in the Galleria dell' Academia and there is the Uffizi too which has the Birth of Venus painting, the churches have beautiful architecture and famous works of art inside, the Duomo is wonder of its own, the Piazza Signoria, and the Pitti gardens are beautiful! If you need someplace cheap the Hostel International in any big city is a good company to stay with.
Have fun!
how to find some cheapest places to visit and with beautiful sight
If you like art then Florence is amazing! Amsterdam is great but not for the art, although the city itself is really picturesque and stunning.
Barcelona, I was there two months ago, I found to be fairly expensive (but that could have been because it was the tourist season), and Berlin was actually very inexpensive. Amsterdam was in the middle of the two I would say (I have never been to Florence). Out of those three you will find art and history plentiful, I would say the least amount, though, would be Amsterdam. Good luck!!
