Hey all,
Hey,
How long are you planning on going for? and are you planning on going on a working holiday visa or are you just traveling without working?
I have read many posts from different people all over the web saying to budget about $300 a week so just under/around £200.
There are a lot of people that will argue for and against ultimateoz etc I personally wouldn't spend the money on it as all of what they do you can do for cheaper and the only thing you are really paying the extra money for is being introduced to other travelers without having to initially go and strike up conversations yourself lol. But then a lot of people would like to spend the money to have a bit more security for when they get there. But advise I have been given and am taking is just booking myself into a hostel and meet people there, as far as I have been told the vast majority of people will be in the same boat as you anyway traveling alone and wanting to meet new people, so I say just go for it

Hi Claire
You don't need to do ultimate oz or ozintro to meet people, I have booked into a hostel and will meet people whilst I'm there. I've also set up a facebook group to make it easier to find travel mates

Hope this helps
Hey
Money does go quickly in Australia however I have also met quite a few people who got into the country with $50 (30 pounds) but it depends if customs stop you and ask how much money your bringing in because on WHV you need $5000 (just over 3000pounds)
Regarding introduction packages i did one and to be honest i didnt think it was worth the money but if i got the chance again i would of booked it all over as it was the security that ticked my box.
anyway hope this helps

Thanks for all your input guys
Josh, i'm hoping to stay out there for as long as i can. I wanna have some money to travel around the country for the first few months and then settle down somewhere and get a job. So really i shouldn't need too much money, it's more for the first few months and back up in case i cant find a job too quickly.
Chelle, i think that's why i'm having trouble saying no to it completely. It'a a security blanket that i will be able to meet at least a couple of people!
Thanks for the link Carlos, something like that could come in handy!
