Going to Italy for 4 months. What is the cheapest way to go about using my iPhone in Italy? Should I just switch to an international plan, or are there cheaper alternatives?
Well, if your iPhone's unlocked, buying a local SIM card is generally the cheapest, easiest option so you might want to look into that.
Well according to me O2 provides the cheapest cell phone service with inside Europe.....
Not easy to answer ....
Some providers are relatively expensive within the country but offer fantastic international rates. Currently I'm paying a 15c connection charge and 1c per minute for calls from France to UK with Lebara. Taking that card to UK results in high call charges back to France. Unfortunately Lebara do not operate in Italy.
Other sim cards are cheap within the country, but expensive for overseas calls.
A prepaid sim card is only $5 or $10 and you can top it up online or in various kiosks, newsagents, etc.
I'd go to a phone shop in Italy, explain what you need and take their advice.
