I am going to Aus in June on my own for largely the same reasons! So far I have booked my flights and 7 days accommodation. Planning on not doing too much planning before I arrive but would be handy to get to know some people and have an idea of jobs.
Have you thought about places you'd like to visit and how long are you hoping on staying?
