Name Change

Followed a thread that talked about what US Customs sees when they scan your passport. I am curious about something, what if a persons name is changed, is the name the only thing that US customs uses to identify risk such as watch lists or convictions etc...?

1.) "... All their documentation now has a new name, can US Customs somehow know the name was changed on re-entry?..."

No one can answer that question accurately because no one can say with any certainty which databases cross referenced each other.

2.) "... I also read a traveller was refused admittance when he was fingerprinted. Does US customs randomly fingerprint people?..."

No, the fingerprinting isn't random. Almost everyone gets their biometrics recorded upon entry now - both digital fingerprints and a photograph - which are then checked against a watch list of known criminals and suspected terrorists.

3.) "... Lastly is your wanted in the US on an arrest warrant and try to enter, can they arrest you or just deny entry? By talking to an agent are you in US territory?..."

They can do whatever the hell they want. You have ZERO control once you've landed in the US.

Have a read through and .

Good luck.

Cheers,
Terry

hey thanks for the reply, the 3rd question I had related to major airports in Canada have US Customs clearance 'BEFORE' you fly inside the airport. I was wondering if that is considered US territory.

No, it is not US territory.

If it's a major warrant though you'll still be arrested and held by the Canadians until the paperwork is done to turn you over to the Americans.

Terry

thanks. And that would assume the crime in the US is a crime in Canada. They would have to follow and extradition process I assume

Any major crime in the US is a crime in Canada, the UK and every other western country.

You're really beating around the bush here and with respect all your questions have been answered.

Good luck.

Cheers,
Terry
