Many hotels have free wifi in their rooms.
Choose a hotel with available wifi.
Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
I am more looking for wifi on the go. Such that i can access my email on my iPad and i do not have to restrict my hotel choice.
I have seen such mobile wifi devices in Korea and Japan, so wondering if Singapore offers rental of such similar devices.
In Thailand, where I live most of the year, most cheaper hotels have free wifi. In Singapore you won't find too many good cheap hotels but some of the hotels may have wifi available and maybe even an office suite where you can print documents and send faxes too.
If it is electronic you can find it in Singapore. I think you need a dongle type thing that plugs into your computer and you pay for the time same as using a cell phone. At least that is the way it works with a laptop. Start with a visit to an Apple Store and get their advice.
Google will also give you some pointers. (Being retired, nothing I do nowadays is important enough that it can't wait a few hours to I get back home or or if out of town until I am at least in a place with available free wifi like McDonalds.)
Happy New Year.
Hello Thank you for your reply.
I have been considering the option of buying a prepaid SIM card as well as roaming around Singapore to search for free wifi. However, i think there are these few drawbacks:
1) I will lose my original phone number if i were to replace it with a prepaid SIM card. My business associates or friends back home might not be able to reach me
2) Heard that free wifi in Singapore is limited to only a few locations and cafes and is very difficult for tourists to log on.
3) I will need internet access on my tablet and laptop too. Using tethered internet (if possible) from my mobile phone will be slow and battery draining.
I tried googling for portable wifi rental in Singapore and came across this website

perhaps by a cheap Android phone ( < $100 ) on PAYG when you arrive?
you can easily turn that into a mobile wifi hotspot with a few key clicks, then in future you can use the same handset and buy a $1 simcard wherever you go and you'll always have a 3G -> Wifi hotspot
Thanks nickl,
For that i will have to live with two separate mobile phones and still not being able to enjoy better internet surfing experience. Data SIM card in Singapore costs only $1? is that the case?
if so, then that might be a cheaper alternative

Hi Andrew, your posts were flagged by a member and on further inspection it shows that your IP address is based in Singapore. As such, I'm also deeply suspicious of your motivation here. You say in your post you're not planning on going to Singapore until March.
I've removed the links you posted for a company as right now they just seem like stealthy advertising which we really, really hate around here.
Here's a list of free wifi hotspots in Singapore:

I hope this helps!
Cheers!
