Dear American friends,
Best place to do shopping at reasonable prices is at the outlet malls.
Here's a list of some in Florida:

The ones near Orlando would probably be your best bet, as prices increase as you get closer to Miami.
As far as the NBA, there are two teams in Florida, the Orlando Magic and the Miami Heat. Since the Miami Heat have been the champs the last two years, their tickets will be very expensive to come by, so I suggest you try the Orlando Magic ticket office, which is here:

Once you are at that website, you'll need to go down and click on "Single Game Tickets"
You'll need to pick a game on or before April 19th, since after that the playoffs start, and then ticket prices really go way up.
Driving using a car with the seat on the opposite side really isn't that tough. Just remember that you need to stay on the right side of the road, you pass cars generally on the left and you go to the right on any "round-abouts" you come to--which will be almost none, since we use traffic lights everywhere here. Also, stay within the speed limits and make sure you know where your car registration and insurance forms are if you get stopped by a police officer.
Enjoy your trip.
P.S. If you want to keep expenses down, I wouldn't go to New York City. It is the most expensive town in the United States (Honolulu is 2nd, Washington DC is 3rd, and San Francisco is 4th).
