Bangkok, beach area and Northern Thailand (Chiang Mai) usually rounds out many tourist holidays. If you are in Thailand for only 6 to 8 days maybe only 2 cities. Save your big shopping for Bangkok at the end.
If you arrive at Don Muang in the middle of the night (like many Indian tourists do) you have fewer transportation options. Also, you must pay for a full night in a hotel and only use it for part of the night. Suvarnabhumi (BKK) has better transportation during day and early evening. Late, late at night only meter taxis available.
A simple Google check will give you some of the things to see and do in Thailand. But if your time is short also check on how to get from place to place. Thailand is larger than you may think. For distant locations you may have to fly to conserve available time.
