Warm Places in Europe in January

I am interested in booking a flight to Europe in January 2014. I basically can redeem 35,000 US Airways miles to fly round-trip from the US to Europe in January or February. I need to know if there is a group of islands or some region that is warm that time of year. Ideally I'd like a little beach time.

There are places that are warmer, but there isn't a place, that would be perfect for a beach holiday at that time of the year. You can find warm weather on Canary islands (the average temperature in Gran Canaria is then 18 C ; the temperature depends very much on the island and even the part of the island and obviously on the year). Anywhere else it isn't that warm, in Greece, Turkey, Spain, France the temperature is around 10 C. There is nowhere that warm in Europe, I would suggest you to go on a culture trip instead of a beach holiday - honestly, there is so much culture in Europe and I'm sure you'll have a great time.

If you want to go on a beach vacation you might consider visiting Egypt. It is one of the only places close to Europe where you could have lots of sun and swim in January.

If just feeling the warmth of the sun would make you happy then there are plenty of choices (apart from the Canary Islands already mentionned by the previous poster): south of Portugal and Spain, Greece, Malta, south of Turkey, Cyprus, Sicily... although it can rain, maximum temperatures in those places can reach 15-17 °C.

I dont think there are much places warmer at this time, maybe you can go the south of Spain on africa

Thank you both so much for the suggestions! After hearing everyone's comments and researching the internet, it doesn't look like there is a warm place in Europe during the months I wish to travel. As a result, I think I may have to change my gameplan to a ski vacation!!!!
