Israel and Etihad Airways

Very interesting. So the Lebanon stretches all the way down to Egypt and the Occupied Territories are un-named countries in their own right.

Is there any truth in the assertion that Etihad has refused to carry Isrealis?

And are there problems if you are travelling on Etihad on a passport containing and Isreali stamp?

The article states that some cities in Isreal are also omitted - that's because Etihad doesn't fly to them; the only cities labelled are those which are Etihad destinations. See http://ey.innosked.com/(S(ogquxu45eq4s4x55bfw33a55))/Default.aspx

From what I've read, it's a bit of an urban myth that people who have a passport containing an Israeli stamp cannot enter the UAE.

Although according to , "Nationals of “Israel” may not enter the UAE"

A lot of diplomatic talk in the article too, avoiding the concrete question: can you enter with an Israeli stamp. I don't see any text that exactly answers that question.

As far as I know, with an Israeli stamp in your passport, entering most of the Islamic countries (from Morocco to Indonesia) is not possible...although they might not check the passport very well of course. Exceptions are Jordan and Egypt and probably Turkey and Tunisia but not sure about those ones.

Interesting article.

My understanding is that you'll normally be ok to enter the UAE with an Israeli stamp, but as Mike says, many Islamic countries will refuse you entry. When I went to Syria I had to declare on the visa application form that I had never been to Israel, and at the border the official leafed through every page of my passport, presumably checking for offending stamps.

I've been to Israel, albeit only for 2 days on a cruise.
Rather than having our Passports stamped we were given a card insert, which if you wanted to could simply discard once the ship had sailed.
According to the UK FCO Travel Advice it appears like it's the same when arriving by air providing you don't want your Passport stamped by Israeli Immigration. Here's the extract from the FCO Travel Advice...

"You do not need a visa to enter Israel as a tourist. On entry, visitors are granted leave to enter for a period of up to 3 months. In the past the Israeli immigration authorities stamped passports and on request agreed to stamp landing cards instead. Since January 2013 a pilot scheme has been introduced whereby visitors are given an entry card instead of an entry stamp on arrival. You should keep this card with your passport until you leave. "

I like that, since it means that I might consider visiting Israel earlier. I just have a new passport since last year and don't want to spend more money on a new one when I want to visit let's say Iran after Israel. I am interested in both, so this makes sense to me. Great option!

Ditto. I have wanted to go to Israel for ages, but haven't been mainly because of the stamp issue, and I hadn't heard of this new pilot scheme.

Great news.

Seems im not the only person who has been avoiding Israel due to the stamp issues. I agree, this is great news.
