Hi,
Hi,
..... I am finding out about this $160 dollar fee they charge Americans (pure revenge). ...
ice.
Revenge for what?
I say revenge because the one and only reason they charge it is because America charges them the same.
Hi,
I am travelling into Argentina by land.. then flying out and coming back. I am finding out about this $160 dollar fee they charge Americans (pure revenge). Is there any visa you can get to avoid this? I'm going for humanitarian work. Is there any way around it that anyone knows of? They say that you can only do it online (as of 2012) is that still valid, I can't do it at the border? How long is it good for? Can they prove I have paid it for the return back in a few months later?
Thanks for any info on this topic.

This is not a visa. It's really called a "reciprocity fee"; only applies to Americans, Canadians and Australians, and the amount differs between the three, but is equal to what Argentinian citizens have to pay when requesting a visa (which for them is required) for those three countries. (Does Brazil have the same thing? I've only ever heard about the Argentinian thing (when travelling there))
says the fee is good for 10 years for Americans, for 1 year for Australians, and for a single entry for Canadians. You have to prove you paid it by showing your receipt (good luck doing that for 10 years!)
I had not heard of that for the Argentine
I must be thinking that Brazil has it but that they do require a visa for US citizens and build the fee into that. I assume the US requires a visa for Argentines & Brazil reciprocates.
Visas! What a scam. The US say that as a UK citizen I do not need a visa under the Visa waiver scheme but wont't let me in unless I pay 12 dollars every two years for the ESTA. Visa waiver is still a visa to my mind.
