Best places in Oz?

Im going to Oz in september what do you think is the best places to visit and stay?

Which airport are you flying to?
How long are you in Australia?
What are your interests?
Budget?
Are you on your own/couple/kids?
The more info you give the more focussed the replies will be.

If you love sports, you should definitely make time for Melbourne. We love everything
I think it was recently voted most liveable city again but I know some TP members that got comfortable with the Melbourne lifestyle and regretted not continuing their travels.

Actually, Adelaide is growing as a destination and was named in Lonely Planet's top 10 cities in the world earlier this year, although I don't know what the sport scene is like there. I do know that the shark diving in Port Lincoln comes highly rated for travellers. Hoping to do it myself at some point.

Hey, me and a friend are planning on travelling in September. We both love sport too! and have a similar budget. Where are you starting your travels?

thanks for the info kellie will have a look into some sports out there.

I Spent a year in Australia on a WHV in 2007/2008, 8 months of that year was living and working in Melbourne, the place is just cool, Sydney gets alot of the hype, but for me Melbourne is heaps better, its much less hectic and in your face whilst remaining uber stylish and kinda bohemian. Melbourne is Australia's cool kid, its the place to be seen.
I Should point out that i knew no-one there, i just went to Melbourne first on the recommendation of an Aussie mate who i played Rugby with in the UK, he was from the Northern beaches in Sydney.

Seeing as you are stating in Cairns, work your way down the coast through Surfers, Airlie Beach, Sydney and the rest, find your way to Melbourne, and enjoy it all.

Have a great trip.

Sweet all sounds good I'm buzzing to go!!
