Best place to live in England/Scotland?

Where is a good place to live. I like the out doors, partying, city but not tooo big. A place where i want go for a walk and see people every where. I love music too! Every kind all kind A place where i can go to local shows would be cool. Friendly people is a def plus. oh and on the cheap side is kick ass.

Any big town for people, partying and shows. The countryside can be just a bus ride away in many.

Scotland is noticeably colder than England in winter, as the north of England is colder than the south.

Rather than picking a place before you arrive, look around after arrival and find somewhere you like that you can afford.

You can rent or share a house if you plan a long stay. Transport is expensive so you save money by not being in central accommodation but then pay lose it on public transport.

A cheap, small city, near the outdoors with parties and shows - Sheffield and Leeds might be too big at over half a million people each but close to those are Halifax (83,000) Wakefield (75,000), Bradford (300,000) and Huddersfield (150,000). Accommodation is relatively cheap as are food and drink. The public transport system around the region is good (and cheap) and they all have reasonable-sized student populations for shows etc. The Yorkshire Dales north of Skipton are easily accessible as is the Peak District near Marsden, just outside Huddersfield. There's also an extensive canal system, used during the Victorian era to transport the wool and cloth from the mills to the ports at Manchester and Liverpool. The locals are generally very friendly and once you pick up the local accent you'll be well away.
