Hi everyone,
That is really unfair of your friends & family. Since you are working for them while away, ask them to pay for your trip.

I agree that it's unfair especially if you're on a short trip. Rarely does anyone ask me to bring anything back from my trips, and they certainly wouldn't want to cause me any hassle or stress while I'm away. If it can be ordered online, you should suggest your friends and family do it this way - it shouldn't really be your responsibility to shop for people.
No one asks and I do not offer to go shopping for family and friends. I always buy something small for my immediate family but this is my decision. My holiday, my time!!

Exactly!
unfair if they ask on their own to buy them the exact stuff from some of exact shop. buyng presents for friends and family membesr is my favorite business if it's only my wish and I have time for it
I completely agree....
However I do find shopping abroad during my vacations (cities we travel to for shopping purposes like London, Paris or New York) a bit problematic....
For instance during my last trip to NY I wanted to buy a MAC computer because they are cheaper there than in the UK but once I arrived they were sold out!
I want to ask you guys a few questions in regards to my hypothesis that I developed after traveling to NYC wanting to buy a MAC computer that is cheaper over there than in the UK just to find out that it was sold out:
When you are traveling to a city numerous times shopping becomes a burden during your valuable time spent in that city. You want to do 2 things:
1)Get certain items by certain retailers that are not offered in your ow country or items that are cheaper in one country instead of another....like me wanting to buy a MAC because its cheaper in the US but it had already sold out once I arrived.
2)You want to buy things that are not offered in your own country during your stay...you buy those items in volumes because of the cheaper price but also because you probably are buying gifts to bring home to friends or have friends who have asked for items
Problem: Shopping during your vacation becomes time consuming and stressful...forces you to prioritize your valuable time..also you miss out on customized promotions by these stores because they lump tourists as a group
What do you guys think? Are you experiencing this as well? This is specifically for shopping travel purposes.
My trips overseas are for visiting and photographing new sites that I have not seen before, the history of the town or country that I am in, experiencing their foods and hospitality and perhaps catching up with a friend or rellie that I rarely see. I do not go there to shop apart from a few small items to remember the country by but definitely not for clothes or electrical goods. I am sure one can purchase these at home or online. I have always completed a daily diary on my trips which I then save onto the computer when I get home and print off into a book. These are just my thoughts/travels but the family enjoy the read.
