new traveller

I am new to this website and need some travel advice on what kind of money i am going to need for the countries i want to visit for the time i want to visit them, I have £7000 at the moment and want to travel when i know i have enough my problem is i don't really know how much i am going to need.

I am also in the exact same position, money wise and wanting advice too! I have heard hostelworld.com is good for booking hostels. Are you going to work Aswell as travel?

Yeah I'll check that site out, I would work while travelling but the problem is obtaining work visas, because if you get caught working on a tourist visa your screwed!
The only thing i found was taking the 3 day TEFL course, (teach english as a foreign lanuguage) it's quick and easy to do apparantly, costs £60 i think. but it is only useful in places like Asia and other undeveloped countries.

Iv'e heard some people say you don't need a lot of money, some people say you do, I mean going to SE Asia is meant to be dirt cheap, but then places like Australia and America (developed) countries are going to be expensive.

Ideally making money on the internet is the best way, but obviously it's not as easy as that.

As a rough guide, I usually advise people to budget $100-150 (approx £60-100) per day not including transportation.

If you like to party, budget more. If you plan on doing big adventure activites, budget more. If you plan on eating out all the time and never cooking for yourself, budget more.

That might be a little on the low side in a city like New York, but it will be more than enough in the cheaper countries. It usually balances out in the end.

Look into Working Holiday Visas for the countries you plan on visiting. If you're under 31 and haven't applied for one before you'll have no problem getting one. Then you can pick up work and stay in the country for longer.
