Hi travellers,
It's been a good year travelling for me. I started off the year in India and Nepal and since then have had city breaks in Germany (Munich), Belgium (Brussels, Ghent and Bruges), Scandinavia (Copenhagen and Malmo), Rome and Florence! I'm off to Oman and the UAE at the end of December.
Next year I've got a week in Southern Spain booked in March (am going from Malaga to Seville) and a weekend in Lisbon in May. I'm thinking of a trip to the Balkans in late May and possibly some more weekend city breaks.
I haven't saved a penny this year but after living in NZ for so long I'm making the most of being back in the UK and the proximity to so many places.
Made one trip in 2012 to visit my cousins at the lake house in Minnesota over July 4th. Otherwise, it's just been the (sort of) weekly adventure to the grocery store.
Don't have a clue what 2013 will bring... I was given the question, since I will be turning 60 come August, "Where would you like to go?" Being way too practical, I said, "Visit friends in Florida and spend time on Sanibel Island collecting shells." (Collecting shells is a highlight of my life.) The question was rephrased, "If money was no object, where would you want to go?" My reply was, "Guadalcanal, Tahiti or both." I have 'cat's eyes' (semi-precious gems which are actually crab jaw pieces but few people know that) that my dad collected on Guadalcanal during WWII. I had them made into jewelry. I'd love to see the place of their origin and visit a place Dad talked about for years.
Other than that, we'll just see where the wind blows...
OK, gauntlet thrown down.....I ask you folks, where should I take Isa for her 60th? Remember it will be late July, early August.
2012 - went to work. 2013 - hope to keep going to work, plus a holiday or two, but nothing planned yet.
I only discovered Travellerspoint during this year but this seems a fun tradition to adopt. :-)
I began the year with a 7am flight out of Cambodia on new year's day - ouch! Had a quick winter trip to Scotland where I visited the isle of Canna for the first time; Easter was Kiev and Chernobyl; a short break to Bratislava and Vienna, then summer hols was a cruise to Iceland and Norway.
Currently packed for a low-key xmas trip to Malaga, as girlfriend has to work between xmas and new year, we'd normally do a big trip at this time of year but making do with Gibraltar, the Alhambra and a ferry ride over to Ceuta.
Not bad when I'm in a job with 20 days holiday.
Next year the plans are a January cruise (Canaries, Madeira, Agadir) for gf's birthday, Moscow at Easter, and summer hols backpacking through the Balkans by rail. The planned route so far is Belgrade - Sofia - Bucharest and from there go round Transylvania. My only previous visits to the Balkans have been to Croatia, Slovenia and Montenegro so I think the east should be different. The Albania end of things is on the list for another time.

No one? Please don't make Beerman cry. He'll just sob and sob and sob his little eyes out. (Okay, he has beautiful big brown eyes.)

and sorry for my crappy typing but i am on my phone..
In 2012 worked/travelled in every province across Canada and also did the polar bears in Churchill. Cuba, Panama, Colombia then Japan and China then UK and France as well.
Looking forward to a loooong flashpacking trip in the New Year starting back in Cuba then continuing on to who knows where... it all depends on which airline is offering the best sales!
Cheers,
Terry

Anywhere in the world Bex, anywhere. I'm easy, she's easy. Together, we're really easy.
