I've travelled with Stray and Magic around New Zealand and both were great. They're not party buses but you can be as sociable as you want to be, because the chances are there will be someone on the bus who's up for a drink or 2!

I'm 5'1 and found 55 litres a struggle when I was in Australia, so now I go with 40 litres if I'm taking a backpack; otherwise I take a holdall on wheels.
Hey I came bkpacking to Nz 3 years ago and never left. Naked bus is the best way and cheapest way to travel round Nz I found. And heaps of people in the same boat as u! Quite hard to find jobs here depending on what u want to do. Def more jobs in the north island then the south! But best bet is queens town! Ur gonna have an amazing time, Nz is the most beautiful place I've ever been!! :-)
Great thanks for the input guys! Queenstown is one of the places I'm most excited about so I'm very happy to hear that haha.
Any suggestions for backpacks? I definitely want to get a good quality one that won't ruin my back (or my bank account either tho!)
