South America 2014

OrinPritchard has indicated that this thread is about Argentina

Hi Orin,

How exciting! I will try to answer your questions. There are many schools in Argentina offering Spanish classes. Many people arrive in Buenos Aires and start with Spanish classes there. A good alternative is a company called Coined (You can Google them). I have recently visited their school in Cordoba. The reason why I am mentioing this is that they have schools all over South America. You can travel and study Spanish and it doesn`t matter to which country you go in South America you are always up to date. Bs As gets very stressful and sometimes people just want to study a foreign languange in a more relaxed atmosphere. (I am not working for Coined and am not afflilated with them).

In terms of Visa. I am not sure about your Nationality but most people get a 90 day entry visa. Please note that a reciprocity fee applies to Citizens of the USA,Canada and Australia. I recently wrote an article about it on my blog (http://nelmitravel.com/reciprocity-fee-charged-by-argentina/) because there have been new changes in the way to apply as well as the fee.

Many people try to find teaching jobs and it is not always easy to find a job. I cannot tell you that you will find a job or that you won`t. Best is to test the waters when you are here.

I hope the information helps.

Hi!
I'm here to give an opinion on the teaching subject. I don't think you will have trouble finding a job teaching, but there are a few things you need to consider: one, public schools are out of the list. I don't think you even stand a chance - you can try, but it will be hard. Two, improve your spanish as much as you can!!!!! Keep in mind you will be teaching English as a foreign language, and sometimes people need translation. Three, I'd go for private institutes and bilingual schools. That could totally be your "niche"
Good luck!!!
