hey everyone
Both are big modern cities that have lots to offer any visitor.
1. If you're more into culture, arts, music and urban living, then Toronto.
2. If you're more into nature and the outdoors, then Vancouver.

Terry
What's the night life like in each city ??
Like I said they're both big modern cities so both have lots to offer including excellent (for Canada) nightlife, but Toronto is more sophisticated in that regard. Its culture/art scene has a lot more depth than what you'll find in Vancouver.
1.) Toronto: &
2.) Vancouver:

Vancouver definitely has more outdoor options, and probably (from what I've seen) more other Aussie travelers. Nearby Whistler mountain is notorious for attracting Aussies as well. Either way, Toronto or Vancouver are both solid choices.
The other reason you might consider Vancouver is because combining a visit to Vancouver with side trips to the city of Victoria (on Vancouver Island) or to Seattle (in nearby Washington state) would make for a really fun nightlife trip. In the winter, a trip to Whistler resort nearby would provide the nightlife you crave.
Toronto, on the other hand, has the Niagara Falls nearby--but this is mostly a tourist-trap kind of place--and while Toronto has great nightlife, the nightlife at Niagara Falls is non-existent. If you go in the winter, however, you could take side trips across to the US to either Lake Placid, NY or to Stowe, Vermont. Stowe in particular has great post-ski nightlife.
Can't go wrong with either spot. I lean slightly to Vancouver, but then I'm a west coast guy that likes more of the outdoors adventures mixed with my resort experiences.
Hope you have fun.
Go have fun.
thanks very much guys i was thinking more of toronto at first but you guys have convinced me to go to vancouver im booking my flight as we speak for march 2013 oh yeah
Vancouver is by far your best choice for March. The snow will still be on the mountains while the cherry blossoms ans spring flowers should be in full bloom on the coast. While Toronto can still be in the grips of winter - until May some years. You might need a rain jacket, but without the rain the west coast of Canada wouldn't have the spectacular scenery and incredibly lush forests.
See our blog www.hawkson.travellerspoint.com for some views of British Columbia's coast.
another question guys how much spending money would i need for two weeks for both cities
Same as you would - if not a little more - if you landed in Melbourne under the same circumstances.
Cheers,
Terry
