ohmanbear has indicated that this thread is about Malaysia
Malaysia is not the place for casual work for backpackers. Most casual jobs are done by immigrant workers. For other jobs you require a work permit which is expensive.
In a country filled with plentiful, cheap labour I doubt you'll have anything to bump you to the front of the line unless you have some unique skill or trade. Why would a local hire a rich foreigner?
Good luck.
Cheers,
Terry
I see, thankyou both for your replys.
Is there any recommended countries in asia/indochina where casual work/travelling is available at all?
Nowhere in SE Asia or Indochina or even South Asia. There is plenty of local labour so they won't employ Westerners. I suggest you try Australia or New Zealand!

Think about it ohmanbear, if you were an employer in a poor developing country why in the world would you consider hiring some rich foreigner with no unique skills, no trade and who doesn't even speak/read/write the language? It doesn't make any sense.
Cheers,
Terry
Some information about employment in Malaysia

Instead of applying for working visa, just hop on a casual visit. Decide from there whether you like the place and then approach the embassy for more help. There are quite a number of interesting historical places, beaches, forest reserves, so if you guys are into that, it would be great.
Teaching English as a foreign language would be your only option for casual work in that region, I would have thought.
The OPer would still require CELTA or equivalent, which I'm sure they don't possess otherwise the possibility of teaching ESL would have been their first question...
Cheers,
Terry
Yes, as CheersT says, they would need some form of TEFL to teach in Malaysia. You can't pick up casual teaching jobs here.
