travelling to south east Asia may to august

newbeetraveler has indicated that this thread is about Thailand

I myself have not been to Thailand during rainy season, however my boyfriend and a few of his mates have. From what he thought, he loved Koh Phangan in the off season. I think he also said that the weather was still lovely during the day and it rained mostly at night, all night. I don't think going in the rainy season will be too bad, except places may close, or you may be unable to do certain activities, but at least it won't be crowded with tourists! My guess would be that it just won't be as convenient, but as I said, I haven't done it. We went in March/April and got rain once.

Best of luck!

I appreciate the input. There's is a very small chance that plans will change for me. I live in vancouver B.C and it rains here all the time so im not to worried about it. Just trying to figure out what other travellers think. Get the down low and pre-pair my self gfor the worst

Thanks!

Considering that you're used to the PNW climate, I think you would find the heat and humidity of summer in SEA much more of a problem than a little rain! I just got back from that area on Dec 10th, and we had 35C/95F temps in both Bangkok and Vientiane this fall (it can easily get up to 40C/104F in early summer).

It will be very hot during that season with less rain. Even though Thailand, Indonesia, Bali are all great places but it will be really hot. Try to visit these places in winter season because the temperature will be pleasant.
I went to Thailand couple of weeks back and the temperature was just perfect. I loved it there. I booked everything online and it turned out great and believe me it was hassle-free.

so what your say is i shouldent go out there out there during that time as it will be too hot. if that is the case i dont mind its the only time i can really go and its been on my bucket list for a while

It's hot all year round anyway. Drink plenty of water, use plenty of sunscreen, and have the best time ever!

I'm going in July/August next year as it's the only time I could get off work. I'd read around about the rainy season and from most of what I could see we shouldn't miss out on much at all. Most seemed to suggest it was fine during the day and the rain would come, and come hard, late afternoon/night.

I've been to Thailand is February before and it was still hot and humid, so nothing to really worry too much with the heat. I've been to Malaysia in May as well and it was sort of as I had read, fine during the day, pouring with rain at night, was still great though.

thanks thats what i needed to hear!
its already set anyways so no turning back now
