Hi Pahn
Not too keen on being amoungst the hectic ness of khao San road hoping to get a good nights sleep the night I arrive after a long flight.
Thanks
Are you on budget? Maybe you can stay in sukhumvit area which close sky train it easy to go everywhere..
Hey Heaps I am also heading to Bkk in coming weeks and I am travelling from London, planning to stay for short in Bkk before I move to Phuket , I am solo travel what's your plan?
Tanu
No rail service in the Khao San Road area but this area is still popular with young visitors.
I prefer the Sukhumvit Road Nana and Asoke areas. You can use the subway and the Skytrain in this area. Walk to malls, nightlife, restaurants, supermarkets, etc. The Skytrain connects with the subway for Hualamphong and with the Airport Rail Link for rides to the airport. There is a few hostels in this area and many cheap hotels and guest houses. But you can also find very expensive hotels too if that is your budget range.
I don't really want to spend more than 1200 baht a night. Is it easy to get from Sukhumvit Road, Nana and Asoke areas to the Grand Palace etc? As this is the main area I would like to visit the full day that I am there. I'm in my early 30's and keen to take in a bit of night time atmosphere but not too keen to party the night away the nights I am there as I travel to Sri Lanka the following day.
Thanks for your help so far!!
Also how long would it take to get from say the Siam area to the Grand Palace?
I like the Soi Rambuttri area - it's lively enough but quieter than Khao San Road. There are several budget guesthouses along and around that street. My House and Bella Bella were pretty good when I stayed there a few years ago. If you want something a little bit more upmarket, friends have recommended the which is on Soi Rambuttri.
Well..normally it easy to go to Grand palance from Siam area.
Just call the taxi and go directly the cost is 80 baht i though but
It depend on traffic. Usually i drop at Ratchatawee bts station it close to Siam station
and go directly to Grand Palace just pay 60 baht.
By the way when you arrive to thailand?
If you need some accompany or any advice just let me know..
Im in bangkok right now.
Have fun here.
Regards,
Pahn
