hello, we will be arriving shanghai on the 15th july 2013 for 12days.any suggestions for itinerary, have time for water towns.is there a bullet train to guilin and back? love culture, art, film, architecture, food, real non starbucks coffee shops, meeting people.non touristic things( whatever that means)
We did a 13-day train trip to Beijing, Xi'an, Shanghai and Guilin last year. There was no bullet train from shanghai to Guilin when we were there. I recommend the other three cities if you have not been there. i remember there are several water towns close to Shanghai and you should be easily to visit them during your stay in Shanghai.
hello, karen 78,thank you for your reply.that seems like a fast trip in 13days.we are going to beijing in september not now.i'm not sure if including guilin this time will be too much that's why i was wondering if the bullet train was operational it would really save time.the water towns hangzhou, suzhou, wuzhen, huangshan all sound wonderful.so we'll see.
There is no bullet train between shanghai and guilin.Time is tight to gilin. The hangzhou, suzhou, wuzhen, huangshan are very nice and every where you will spent 2~3 days.So there is no more time to guilin even if you take a plane.
thank you all.
thank you everyone for your replies.
I would suggest to fly to Guilin. It is not much more expensive than the train and it will be a very long train trip from Shanghai there as the connection is no good. Or go to Qingdao, Beijing, Guangzhou etc. which have very good bullet train connections.
