After some cheap hostels for backpackers in Sydney, I know it's expensive but just the cheapest few would be great.
Go to the here on travellerspoint (has the same hostels as both hostelworld and hostelbookers), fill in the date you'll be there, and then drag the slider at the top of the page all the way to the left, giving the highest priority to it being cheap. The top results will be what you're after. (Prices vary depending on day of the week and time of year, so it's hard to give a general answer to this question. For example, the cheapest I see this week is AUD $10 in a 14 bed dorm in Balmain; the cheapest I see in November is AUD $19 in an 8 bed dorm in Oasis.)
Just be aware that you tend to get what you pay for...

im staying at Zing Backbackers Hostel - Quite good price at $165 for 4 bed and real good location at Kings Cross
