Didn't get any replies to this, but for the benefit of future readers, I can recommend staying in or near Sy; the restaurant straight on the Ourthe is great, and there's a decent selection of decent hikes all starting here. Also in hiking distance of Durbuy, though that town is way too touristy for my tastes, and dinner options pretty mediocre (there might obviously be exceptions, but if so, they didn't advertise themselves well).
